Huntsville to consider River Mill Parking once again

Posted: 2024-03-22 11:20:23 By: thebay

The Town of Huntsville will be considering additional parking options for the River Mill Park area at the upcoming General Committee Meeting next week.

The town has considered additional parking many times in recent years, with no solution agreed upon.

Staff will be presenting options to the committee that will add between 5 and 15 additional spots at a cost between $38,000 and $126,000.

A consideration in the parking issue, is the amount of allowable room for emergency vehicles on Dara Howell Way, which is 7m wide, whereas, the standard for the town is 8.5m wide.  The lack of available parking in the downtown core is exacerbated by illegal parking beside the park, making it difficult for emergency services to enter the area.

Of all the options available, one is to defer a decision until a parking strategy for the downtown core is completed in 2025.

The meeting will be held on Wednesday, March 27th.
