District's Energy and Emissions Reduction Plan calls for collective action
Muskoka's Community Energy and Emissions Reduction Plan was presented at the District of Muskoka’s Community and Planning Services Committee meeting yesterday. The plan aims to achieve Muskoka’s Greenhouse Gas reduction goals, by 50% by 2030 and net-zero emissions by 2050.
The plan targets transportation, buildings, and community systems as key areas for emission reduction. It also emphasizes urgent, collaborative action from all sectors and outlines initiatives such as promoting electric vehicles, energy-efficient buildings, and waste reduction.
District Community and Planning Chair, Nancy Alcock says “All sectors – government, businesses, community groups, and residents – must come to the table and do their part to create a sustainable future for our communities.”
